The Crestwood baseball team defeated host Pittston Area, 12-7, in a WVC Division I game April 28.
Matt Darden, Derek Distasio and Anthony Caladie led the Comets’ offense with three hits each. Brian Markowski added to the Crestwood scoring effort with two doubles and two RBIs.
Brett Chupka was the winning pitcher.
Crestwood edged Wyoming Area, 2-1, in a close game played May 3.
For the Comets, Tyler Jones had a double and Distasio singled and had an RBI in the win.
Markowski and Caladie shared pitching duties, allowing one hit and striking out 11.
On April 28, Crestwood lost a close, 3-2, softball game to host Wyoming Area.
Ashley Olenginski had two RBIs for the Lady Comets. Alyssa Davies took the loss for Crestwood.
In volleyball, Crestwood defeated visiting Hazleton Area 3-1 on April 28. Scores were 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 26-24.
For the Comets, Chris Dexter had 38 assists, seven digs and three kills while Chet Manship chipped in with 13 service points, 10 kills and eight digs. Kyle Price finished with 16 digs and eight service points. +++++
The Crestwood girls’ lacrosse team lost to host Lake-Lehman, 14-11, on April 28.
Lizzy Dessoye and Danielle Callaghan led the lady Comets with four goals each followed by Morgan Kile with three. Dessoye, Kile and Sarah Wodarczyk were credited with assists.
Paige Zaleppa had five saves for Crestwood.
On May 1, Crestwood defeated Scranton Prep, 16-8. Dessoye powered the lady Comets with eight goals and two assists.
Kile also scored three goals and had an assist while Callaghan added three goals.
Crestwood overpowered host Holy Redeemer in tennis on May 1. In singles, Comet Robbie Shovlin defeated Chris Pawlenok, 6-2, 6-4. Crestwood swept the doubles
matches with wins by the team of John Andrews/David Madl and Chris Fazzini/Christian Malkemes.
