Wilkes Students Patel, Pisaneschi Inducted Into Order Of The Engineer

Nikita Patel and Ryan Pisaneschi, both of Mountaintop, were among twenty-seven graduating engineering students and professionals who were initiated into the Order of the Engineer at the annual Wilkes University Engineering Banquet. The Order of the Engineer is a code of ethics offered to all Wilkes graduating engineering students.

The ceremony emphasized the importance of professional licensure and cooperation within the engineering profession. Edward Bednarz, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Wilkes and former engineer with the U. S. Army, spoke about his concept of engineering ethics. Thomas Lawson, executive vice president at architectural and engineering design firm Borton-Lawson, delivered the keynote address about his experiences in developing a successful, local engineering consulting firm.

During the induction, the students pledged to uphold the standards and the dignity of the engineering profession and to use science and technology to serve humanity by making the best use of the earth’s resources.

The Wilkes University Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences and the Keystone Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Engineers organized the event.
