Mission Trip Report At Emmanuel UCC

The Youth Group and Youth Advisors were again part of the Superstorm Sandy clean-up effort in New Jersey sponsored by TeamEffort. From June 29 to July 4, they worked at repairing damage done by the storm in October 2012. The devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy is estimated to be about $68 billion, and is only second to Hurricane Katrina. The extensive clean-up continues over a large area of New Jersey and our youth are proud to be a part of the volunteers still working there.

On Sunday, August 3, the Youth and Advisors will present their report about their recent experiences and the progress being made. They will also participate in various areas of our Worship Service. We welcome everyone to come and hear their stories and to be updated on the problems still needing to be addressed.

Everyone is invited to Emmanuel United Church of Christ to enjoy the music and enthusiasm of the group, Re-Creation. An inspirational evening of songs and worship is planned for August 10 at 4 pm. Recreation was organized in 1976 to present live performances in hospitals, Veterans Affairs facilities, nursing homes and other care facilities. They now perform over 300 shows yearly to fund their mission to bring music and healing to others. This group of young people pack a lot of energy and spirit into their performance, which you can watch on YOUtube.

For more information on them, go to their website, re-creationusa.com.A free will offering will be taken and light refreshments will be served after the show. Emmanuel is located on Blue Ridge Trail, Dorrance Twp, across from Andy’s Gas Station. For more information, call Allen Dennis at 868-5120 or the church office at 868-5675.
