St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Reverend Gerald Shantillo, Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.

Registration forms for Religious Education classes are in the file folders in the front vestibule. Please return the completed forms as soon as possible. Parents, grandparents, siblings needed! The next meeting of St. Theresa’s Guild will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at 7 p. m. in the social hall. To join the Guild, or for information call Julia at 570-379-3034.

Altar & Rosary Society is looking for a few “Good Members.” Did you know that our Society purchases the hosts, wine, altar candles, and most anything else needed for the altar? When you support our Society and fundraisers, you are caring for the House of the Lord. However, members are needed to continue our work. The Altar & Rosary Society will hold a bake sale in front of the Church on Aug. 17, after 9 a. m. Mass. Members are asked to bring their baked goods to the social hall packaged and ready to sell. For information call Maureen at 570-379-3721.

Altar & Rosary will have their next meeting in the social hall on Aug 18 at 7 p. m. A pizza party will be enjoyed at that time.

The Knights of Columbus will meet Wednesday, Aug 6 at 7:30 p. m. in the social hall. a member call Tony 868.8401, or John 379.3721.

There will be a Funeral Luncheon Committee meeting on Monday, August 11 in the social hall at 7 p. m. This meeting is for all members on all teams.

St. Mary’s Community Outreach Team will meet Tuesday, August 12 at 6:30 p. m. in the meeting room. Rosaries are made prior to the meeting beginning at 6 p. m. The Crochet Group meets on Sundays at 6 p. m. Questions regarding the Team can be directed to Michele at 570-868-0168. Come while the weather is still warm and recite the rosary in the Prayer Garden. Join other parishioners on August 13 at 11a.m. In case of inclement weather recitation will be in the Church. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

The parish is participating in the Loaves and Fishes Program to benefit the Saint Vince de Paul Soup Kitchen. This month’s item is Peanut butter. Baskets are in Church.

Living with Grief: a free bereavement support group. When a loved one dies, a support group setting offers many healing benefits. The Spiritual Care team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center will host two free “Living with Grief” support series on Wednesdays during the afternoon and in the evening beginning August 6. The annual Chicken BBQ on Saturday, September 13 from 4-8 p. m. Mark your calendars! You don’t want to miss this great meal.

We are putting together a list of names of people who are willing to volunteer as needed. Various jobs include helping to stuff raffle tickets and with bulk mailings. Please call the parish office to have your name added to the list.

There are a few weeks available in 2014 to have the Sanctuary Candle lit “in memory of” or “in honor of” a loved one. Please call the parish office for available dates.

St. Jude School in Mountain Top is continuing to accept registrations for the 2014-2015 school year for three-year-olds through eighth grade students during the summer office hours of 9 a. m. until 2 p. m. through August 15, then regular office hours of 8 a. m. until 3 p. m.

St. Jude’s is a Blue Ribbon Nominated School and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The three-year-old program will be full days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The four-year-old pre-kindergarten students may choose either three full days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays or five full day sessions.

Parents/guardians need to bring the students’ social security card, birth certificate, immunization records, and a non-refundable $100 registration fee. For information or to schedule a tour, please contact the school at 570-474-5803.
