Paul Donald Koons, 74, Lake Nuangola, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at his residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1941, in Mountain Top, Paul was the son of the late Donald and Edith (Jones) Koons. He was a graduate of Fairview High School, Mountain Top, earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Chancellor University, and a master’s degree in sociology from Marywood University.
He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years prior to working as a social worker at the White Haven Center and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Paul was a faithful member, choir member and elder of the Presbyterian Church of Mountain Top.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Siegel) Koons; his sister, Carol (Koons) Munson; children, Molly Simms and husband, Dave; Paul Koons and wife, Felice; Steve Koons and wife, Jane; Greg Koons and wife, Maria; and Megan Grant and husband, Jim; and 10 grandchildren, Ian, Morgan, Grayson, Echo, Peyton, Callie, Kieren, Joshua, Riley and Breandan.
Paul loved his family and his interests included music, model trains, sailing and his grandchildren. He was involved in the Barber Shop Chorus in Wilkes-Barre, served as a cub master with the Boy Scouts and had served as president of the Nuangola Lake Association.
The funeral was held at the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church.
