Wyoming Seminary To Present Musical Concerts Next Month

The Wyoming Seminary Civic Orchestra will present a program featuring music by Sibelius and Nielsen on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 8:00 p. m. in the Sem Kirby Center for Creative Arts, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The performance will be repeated on Monday, January 18 at 8:00 p. m. at Marywood University’s Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. Music Director Rick Hoffenberg will lead the musicians in a performance of the Violin Concerto by Sibelius, featuring solo violinist John Michael Vaida, and the Symphony No. 3 by Nielsen. Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band will present its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00 p. m. in the Sem Kirby Center for Creative Arts, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The Wind Ensemble will offer music by Swearingen, Stalter, Holst and Sousa. The Percussion Ensemble will present music by classical and contemporary composers, while the Jazz Band will perform classic and contemporary jazz works. The concert is free and open to the public.
