Students Invited To Participate In Christmas Eve MassAt St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Reverend Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.

Christmas Ministry Schedule-Extraordinary Ministers, Lectors, and Altar Servers please sign up for Christmas Masses in the sacristy or call the parish office to volunteer.

Religious Education & Student News -Students participating in the Christmas Eve Family Mass have practice next Sunday December 20 during religious education class. Students not participating in the Mass do not have class.

Altar Server Classes-Father Jeff will be scheduling Altar Server Classes in the near future for new servers and a refresher class for current servers. Please call the parish office to sign up for the new server class or for more information.

Confirmation Classes-Eighth grade has class, Dec 20 or 21. Seventh grade has class Dec 20 or 21. Classes are held in St. Jude School on Sundays: 10:10 to 11:20 a. m. or Mondays: 6:30 to 7:40 p. m. Please attend on your scheduled day. Questions: Pam 474-6315 ext 228.

2016 Offertory Envelopes-The new offertory envelopes are ready for pick up in the back of the Church. Help distributing envelopes to family and friends is greatly appreciated. Remaining envelopes will be moved to the social hall after Mass on Sunday, December 22.

Advent, which comes from the Latin word for “arrival” or “coming,” is a period of preparation for the birth of our Lord. Advent is a time of joyous anticipation, but also of penance and preparation for the great Christmas feast. Our Advent Penance Evening is Tuesday, December 22 from 6-7 p. m.

Church Decorating-Five Christmas Trees will be put up this year: four in the Church and one on the front porch. If you would like to donate a tree or trees in honor of, or in memory of a loved one please call the parish office. We will be decorating the Church on Sunday, December 20 at 11 a. m. For those attending Mass -no need to go home -a light breakfast will be served in the social hall. All are invited to come and help, especially students in need of service hours. Jobs for all ages and abilities.

Christmas Wafers-The Oplatki are available in the baskets in front of the cry room. Donations can be left in the basket. Oplatki, are thin wafers traditionally shared at holy dinner Christmas Eve in Poland.

St. Jude’s 9th Annual Lessons & Carols Concert will be held on Sunday, December 20th at 4 p. m. in the Church. The concert tells the story of our salvation history in Christ and features our Music Ministry, guest instrumentalists and a light reception to follow in the school cafeteria.

The trip to see “Samson” at the Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Cost is $90 payable to St. Mary’s Altar & Rosary Society. Price includes show, dinner, and transportation. A $45 non-refundable deposit is due with reservation. Payment in full is due by February 26, 2016. There are a few seats available.
