Crestwood dominated Coughlin en route to a 58-20 win in a girls basketball game played January 4.
Maddie Ritsick and Kate Snipas led the Lady Comets in scoring with 14 points apiece while Abby Macko had 11. Snipas hit four shots from beyond the arc and Macko hit one.
Also scoring for Crestwood were Julia Makowski with 10 points, Sarah Hopkins added three, and Riley Morgan and Ally Muse each had a Bucket. Marlee Dillon and Abby Murphy each chipped in with one in the win.
The Crestwood girls lost to Hazleton Area, 57-45, in a game played January 8.
Maddie Ritsick led all scorers with 23 points. Sara Hopkins put seven points on the board for Crestwood while Julia Makowski added six and Kate Snipas tossed in five.
Also scoring for the Lady Comets were Alyssa Cuono with three and Marlee Dillion had one.
The Crestwood boys basketball team recorded a 46-33 win over Coughlin in a Wyoming Valley Conference game played January 5.
Jason Klusewitz and Josh Malkemes paced the Comets with 12 and nine points, respectively.
Aslo putting points on the board for Crestwood were Robbie Hopkins and Mendell Foremen with six points apiece, Lance Blass and Kyle Richards tossed in four, while Tim McCue and added two.
On January 7, Crestwood defeated Pittston Area, 52-46.
Malkemes led the Comets with a team-high 15 points in a tight contest. Malkemes hit 6 of 10 free throws in the win.
Gegaris added nine points and Foreman chipped in eight. Also adding to the Comets’ tally were Hopkins with seven and Klusewitz added five. Blass tossed in four in the win.
Hazleton Area cruised past the Crestwood boys, winning by a score of 48-34 in a big WVC game on January 9.
Malkemes led the Comets with 13 points, followed by Hopkins with 12.
Teammates Foreman tossed in five, and McCue added four in the disappointing loss.
Crestwood began this week’s schedule with a record of 2-1 in the division and 7-4 overall.

At 145, Justin Lukashewski pinned Connor Munleyin 5:29. Tyler Nuss recorded a pin at 285 over John Walsk in :25.
Crestwood placed 12th in the team standings of the Wyoming Valley Conference Wrestling Tournament held last weekend at Lake-Lehman High School. Fourteen teams competed.
Ron Grevera placed sixth at 132 when he defeated Cory Washinski of Wyoming Valley West by a 5-3 decision.
Crestwood’s Ryan Black (170) recorded one of the fastest falls in the tournament in :58.
