William M. Andres
World War II Veteran

William M. Andres, 89, White Haven, died at home, Wednesday, January 13, 2016, with his family by his side.

Born in Mountain Top, he was the son of the late Marvin and Emma Laude Andres and was a graduate of Fairview High School. Bill served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in Japan during the end of the War and received the Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed as a plant supervisor at White Haven Center, was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served for many years on White Haven Council.

Mr. Andres enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid Phillies Fan and loved steam engines and model trains.

He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Ackers; daughters, Lee Hallock and her husband, Joseph, White Haven; Deborah Murphy, White Haven; Sheri Rush, Reading; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Searfoss, Erin Murphy, Michael Murphy, Jacey Hallock, Tucker Rush; 2 great grandchildren, Alex and Sophie and sister, Shirley Trowbridge.

Funeral service was conducted at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Berwick Street, White Haven. Reverend Michelle Kaufman officiated.
