AARP Driver Safety Classes, Book Sale At MS Kirby Library

The Basic 2-part AARP Driver Safety Class will be given at the Kirby Library, 35 Kirby Ave., in Mountain Top on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, from 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. and Tuesday, February 16, from 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. Attendance at both sessions is required if an individual has not previously taken the course, or within the past 3 years.

A refresher course will be given on Thursday Feb. 11, 2016, from 10 to 2 p. m., also at the Kirby Library. The course is open only to individuals who have completed either the 2-part Basic Course or Refresher Course within the past 3 years.

These courses are open to anyone, but those who are 60 and older may be eligible for a five percent auto insurance discount for the next three years. These courses need to be renewed every three years.

The cost for this course is $20 per person, or $15 for an AARP member. A check payable to AARP should be brought to the course, and will be collected by the instructor. Students should bring pens, a driver’s license, a check payable to AARP to the first class, and their AARP membership card, if they belong to the organization. Stock up on great hardcovers and paperbacks including fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books for the cold winter days ahead. There will be a limited selection of DVDs and books on CD.
