The Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Auxiliary Post 781, Mountaintop, is sponsoring a Turkey Dinner on April 30 from 4 to 7:30 p. m. at the Post Home, 1550 Henry Drive, Mountaintop. Dine in or take out. The meal includes turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 fro age 12 to adult, $4 for children 6 to 11, and children under 5 are free.
Wright Twp. Cleanup is May 2 to May 7 for Wright residents only. Arrangements can be made for pick up of large items. There is a fee of $10 for pick up plus $5 for each large item such as couches, mattresses, grills, lawn tractors, etc. Appliances will also be picked up by calling the supervisors’ office at 570-474-9067 from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a. m. to 4 p. m. during the month of April. Pick ups will be scheduled May 2 and 3. All items must be placed roadside by 8 a. m. on May 2. Only items on the list and prepaid will be picked up. No items will be picked up curbside after May 3. Any items after that date will be required to be brought to the municipal drop off site at the township building. Dumpsters will be available behind the municipal building to deposit items on May 4 from 7 a. m. to 4 p. m.; May 5 and 6, from 7 a. m. to 6 pm.; and May 7 from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m. No construction materials, paint cans, automotive parts, propane tanks or hazardous materials will be accepted. No electronic items. Pick ups must be paid for in advance. Permits to deposit items in the dumpsters must also be purchased in advance.
The Nuangola Library is once again offering scholarship funds to Crestwood High School seniors graduating this June and going on to various post-graduate programs. Scholarship application forms are now available and may be obtained by students at the high school’s guidance office. Students should follow the directions found on the application for writing their essay and submit it by the deadline of May 6, 2016. Applications turned in after the deadline will not be considered. Three Ann E. Thomas memorial awards were given last school year at the graduation awards ceremony.
