Parishioners have been asked to take a paper grocery bag from near the doors of the church, and fill it with the items outlined on the bag. Items listed are basic birthday party necessities. The bags are due back at the church by Sunday, April 24. The Caring Kids Club will decorate the bags and distribute them to local food banks to help those in need have a very Happy Birthday.
Classes will begin on Friday, April 22 for the Diocesan religious award “The Family of God”. This award is for third grade Catholic boys and girls. They will meet five to six times and the medals will be awarded in June during Mass at St. Jude Parish. Parents who are interested in signing up their child to work on this medal, are asked to call the Parish Office and leave your name and phone number.
The Second Annual Catholic Men’s Conference will be held on Saturday, April 23 at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. This year, Dr. Scott Hahn, Msgr. This sacrament will be celebrated Sunday, April 24 at the 10:30 a. m. and noon Masses and Sunday, May 1 at the noon Mass.
There will be a Vera Bradley/ Polish Pottery Bingo at St. Mary’s in Dorrance on Sunday, May 1 at 1 p. m. Doors open at noon. The cost is $20 which includes 20 games -all paper, plus specials. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit the St. Mary’s Youth Group.
Vacation Bible School will be held June 20-24. Student registration is now open. Forms are available online or at the Parish Office. Volunteer applications are available on the parish website at www.stjc.org.The theme for this year is “Deep Sea Discovery”.
Anyone who is planning on being a part of the Vacation Bible School team this summer and is 18 years of age and over, must have the following information in to Carrie in order to volunteer: Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Check and (if living outside the state in the past ten years) Fingerprinting, as well as have completed VIRTUS training. The following items are needed at the Mountain Top Food Bank: boxed soup mix instead of Ramen noodles, noodles, cream, soups, baked beans, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, tuna, mayonnaise, pudding, jello, sugar, hot chocolate, and coffee. Please drop off donations in the annex of the church.
St. Jude Parish Office is now located on the Church Road side of the school. The temporary offices will be the first door (D31) and it is labeled Parish Office. Also, during this temporary move, Sunday office hours will be suspended.
Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
