Welcome Club Meeting

Mountain Top Welcome Club is hosting the last meeting of the season Thursday, May 19th at 12 noon lat the Presbyterian Church 9 Chestnut St. Babysitting will be available for $4 the first child and $3 for additional children. Pot Luck Lunch-please bring an appetizer, salad, or covered dish to share. No desserts are needed. The Welcome Club will be presenting donation checks in the amount of $1500 each to this year’s recipients, The Mountain Top Food Pantry, The Mountain Top Free Medical Clinic, and the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library. The Club will also be presenting $1,000 check to this years scholarship winner, Jenna Kanyak. All the funds being awarded have been raised by the club members through fund raising efforts and the night of the races event. School Board Special Meeting

The Crestwood School Board will hold a Special Meeting Thursday May 19, 6:30 p. m. in the Crestwood High School Library. The board will present the final version of the 2016-2017 budget.

Pancake Breakfast

An All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, May 21st, 2016 from 8 a. m.-12 p. m. at the Mt. Top Presbyterian Church, 9 Chestnut Street. The menu features pancakes, sausage, eggs, potatoes, juice, & coffee . Cost is Adults (12+): $8.00; Children (5-11): $4.00; and 4 & Under: Free. CF Fundraiser at Emmanuel

It’s time to clean out those closets and get the stuff out of the attic –and better check the cellar and sheds, too. Deb Dietrich is coordinating a Yard, Craft and Bake Sale at Emmanuel on Saturday, May 21, from 9 am to 1 pm for the benefit of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For a $10 per table donation, you can sell all those unwanted items lurking around your home and/or sell delicious bake goods or your famous craft items. Just see Deb or call her at 570-379-3474 to reserve your table(s). Emmanuel UCC is located at the end of Alberdeen Road in Dorrance Township, Mountain Top, across from Andy’s Gas Station.

Blood Drives

American Red Cross Blood Drives will be held in Mountain Top on May 24 from 1 p. m. -6 p. m., at the Wright Township Fire Hall, 477 South Main Road; and in Wapwallopen on May 22 from 8 a. m. -1 p. m., St. Mary’s Church, 3529 Saint Mary’s Road.

Fairview PTA Meeting

There has been a change to the May Fairview Elementary PTA meeting -it will be held on Thursday May 26th at 6 pm. The PTA will be voting on next year’s budget and an open board position. This will also be the last meeting for the 2015-2016 school year.

Dorrance Rummage Sale

The Dorrance Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Rummage Sale on June 3 from 4:00 until 7:00 and on June 4 from 8:00 a. m. until 12 noon. Drop off date is May 23 until 7 p. m.

Rabies Clinic

Mountaintop Hose Co. No. 1 will sponsor its Annual Rabies Clinic Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 1 to 3 p. m. at the firehouse. Dogs and cats welcome. $10 per inoculation. The firehouse is located at Woodlawn Ave. & Lehigh St., at top of the mountain on Route 309.

Yard Sale & Crafters/Vender Fair

Women’s Club of Mountain Top will hold its annual Yard Sale and Craft/Vendor Fair on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 8 am to 2 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S. Main Road, Mountain Top. The event will feature more than 15 yard sale tables, member made baked goods, local crafters, and vendors from 31 Bags, Younique, Lularoe and others. Rain date is June 11.

American Girl Doll Bingo

An American Girl Doll bingo, with proceeds to benefit the M. S. Kirby Library in Mountain Top will be held on Sunday, June 5th at the Crestwood High School Cafeteria, 281 S. Mountain Blvd, Mountain Top. Doors open at 12 noon. Bingo starts at 1 p. m. Tickets are $20 before June 5th. $23 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the library at 35 Kirby Avenue, Mountain Top or by calling the library at 570-474-9313. There will be 20 regular games (all dolls). Ten of the dolls will be the 2016 Doll of the Year, Lea Clark! There will also be special games where prizes will be accessories and/or dolls. Basket raffles, 50/50’s, and refreshments by the Crestwood High School Cheerleaders! All those attending, including children, must have a ticket.
