Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother

Mary M. (Sweeney) Farrell, 91, Mountain Top, died peacefully at Providence Place, Drums, May 10, 2016.

Mrs. Farrell was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Farrell was a graduate of Forty Fort High School, Class of 1943, and a graduate of Traphagen School of Design in New York.

She worked as an interior decorator for The Globe store in Scranton and The Boston Store in Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of St. Jude’s Parish in Mountain Top and active in the community through the church and charitable work.

Mrs. Farrell was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Joseph B. Farrell; her parents, William J. Sweeney and Margaret M. Sweeney; and her brother, William J. Sweeney Jr.

She is survived by her children, Joseph B. Farrell Jr., Pasadena, Calif.; and Anne Marie Farrell, Arlington, Va.; her grandchildren, Joseph B. Farrell III, Ryan P. Farrell and Ian A. Newton; her sister, Anne M. Walker, Palm Bay, Fla.; and her brother, James E. Sweeney, Georgetown, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Jude’s Church, Mountain Top.
