Diane Herrmann Heffernan, Mountain Top, died peacefully on May 12, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1953.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Neil Heffernan; her children, David (Jessie), of Monterey, California, Christine (Joseph), of Drums, Erik (Desery), of Mountain Top; and step-daughter, Megan (Matt), of Philadelphia. Diane had the joy of four beautiful and loving granddaughters, Leana, Carissa, Ellie and Hope. Diane was also a mother to Chris (Victoria) Kordek, of Wilkes-Barre. She was a loving sister to Lori Blash, Trish (Barry) Fisher, Edmund Blash and Paul (Karen) Blash, all of Philadelphia. Diane was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nonni and friend.
Diane was victorious through her life and the crosses she was dealt. Ovarian cancer was one of her biggest crosses to bear. She carried this cross with grace and fortitude. Never once did her strength waver during her 13-year long illness. She was an inspiration, a breath of fresh air, a smile, a loving hand, a kind word, a mother to anyone who needed her, a best friend to many, a top-notch Nonni. Diane was a true lover of life.
Diane doesn’t want endless tears shed; she wants joy. Diane wants everyone to remember her smile and love. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Justice Rescue in Philadelphia or to Smile Train.
Diane’s life was honored with a celebration of life Mass at St. Jude’s.
Life, for those left behind, surely won’t be the same. We will all try to live in her light and do good things for others. We will try not to sweat the small things. You are forever in our hearts.
