St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Reverend Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.
American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Sunday, May 22 from 8 a. m. to 1p.m. To make an appointment call the parish office or 1-800-RED CROSS. One donation call help save three lives. Blood is especially needed around the holidays including Memorial Day! Photo ID or Red Cross card required. Must weigh at least 110 lbs and be feeling well.
Registration Forms: Registration forms can be found in the file holder in the vestibule of the church. Classes for children in Kindergarten through sixth grade are held at Saint Mary’s. Seventh and eighth grade classes are held at Saint Jude. Religious education is required for all children in first through twelfth grade. This is a mandate by Bishop Bambera. Ninth through twelfth grade students fulfill this obligation by attending youth group and youth group sponsored activities.
Catechists and Aides are needed at Saint Mary’s for the 2016-2017 school year. Please call Mrs. Heller if you can donate your time to teach our young Catholics or for more information.
Background Checks for Volunteers-Pennsylvania law requires employees and adult volunteers who work around children to obtain background checks. All background checks must be completed and on file in the office by July 1, 2016. If you already have clearances please send a copy to our parish office. Applications can be found in the file folder in the vestibule. For more information please call the office.
Knights of Columbus Mass: The Knights will sit as a body next weekend, May 21 and 22. Pews will be reserved up front for all Knights.
Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne Vocation Discernment-Young women who are discerning a religious life are invited to join the sisters for a day of prayer and apostolate in Philadelphia on October 15, 2016. Youth Group Community Service opportunity is Sunday, May 22 by working the snack table at the blood drive. Arrive at 7:45 a. m. until 1p.m. Please call or FB message by May 20.
Another service opportunity will be June 5 at 10 a. m. immediately following Mass then we will help make pierogi.

Light the Fire, Wednesday, June 29, is an all day Youth Rally at Misericordia University in Dallas. Chris Padgett from the Chosen Series will be the guest speaker! Music by Full Armor Band -You may remember them from an evening concert they played at St. Mary’s a few years ago. Our own Francis Zelinka is currently a member. Total Cost $30 Deduct $5 paid by youth group fundraising = $25.
For clarification, you do not have to “join” Youth Group. All students in seventh grade + are automatically a part of youth group just by being a parishioner of our parish. You can attend any or all of the meetings and activities! This is also a mandate by Bishop Bambera that all students continue with a structured faith journey through twelfth grade.
Bazaar news-The next Bazaar 2016 meeting is Tuesday, May 24 at 7 p. m. in the dining room. A few booth stand chairs and people who can work a stand for just a few hours are needed. Please call the office if you can help. No experience needed!!
We will begin accepting rummage sale items, truckload of groceries, food prep items, and dime pitch, and game prizes beginning Monday, May 23. Donations will be accepted during office hours and on weekends.
Second Collection for the truckload of groceries will be the weekend of May 21/22. This collection allows us to purchase bulk items and gift cards for perishable items.
Rummage Sale -Please softly used items only. We have to pay to discard rubbish. This takes away from our profit and is counter productive. Also, we cannot accept pharmaceuticals, make up, personal hygiene items, clothing, shoes, or stuffed animals.
Pierogi Making -We will begin making pierogi on Saturday, June 4. Help is needed Schedule: Saturday, June 4 from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m., Sunday, June 5 from 11a.m. to 4 p. m., and Mon -Thu, June 6-9 from 8:30 a. m. to 4 p. m.
Raffle Tickets -Envelopes will be in the back of the Church next weekend. Please take them home with you to help defray the cost of postage. Return your tickets by June to be entered into the Early Bird Contest for $100. This year we continue with our Cash Raffle, Truckload of Groceries, and John Deere Tractor. However, the tractor comes with a tow behind cart this year.
Other Donations being accepted are Spirits for the T Raffle, Wine for Wine Wheel, and Hand Craft.
