Rogation Days are to honor God for His creation, and to pray for the land and sea and the gifts of labor, and for the needs of all. The traditional Rogation Days are the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Ascension Day. St. Martin in the Fields celebrated Rogation Sunday on May 8th this year since May 1st was Confirmation Sunday. We celebrated with a special service where we blessed the earth, sky, garden tools and our animals. Since not many of us have farm animals we blessed family pets and they were all well behaved.

If you haven’t been passed the Church in the past few weeks, take a drive by and you will see a statue of St. Martin in the landscaping on the street side. He has been hiding in the shrubbery for the last few years. He now has a place of honor in the new landscaping.

For those of you who missed out on our Pastie sale we will have another one soon.

Helping others in need is part of St. Martin in the Fields outreach program. This month we are collecting canned vegetables for the food bank at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Your items can be dropped off at the Church on Sunday morning or at Barry’s Floral Shop, 176 S. Mountain Blvd.

The BOOK NOOK is full of new shelves. We are thinking of adding a little perusing spot for your convenience. The inventory has increased substantially in the last few months. We are diligently working on alphabetizing the categories to make it easier for our customers. Please bear with us.

The Common Room, located in the back of the Church, is available for use by not-for-profit groups. There is a 40” monitor with either VGA or HDMI input, guest wireless access for up to 10 users at a time, and a blue tooth enable stereo allowing you to play music from your phone or other wireless device. There is on site parking, seating for up to 75 people, has a handicap accessible entrance. For more information contact Don Herres at 570-560-0015.
