The Valley Regional Warriors 16u girls fast pitch travel softball team will head to the USSSA Eastern National Championships tournament in East Hartford CT on a high note.

Last weekend the team earned its third -first place finish of the season in the USSSA Extreme Summer Heat Word Series Qualifier held at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Quakertown.

Truly “Extreme Summer Heat” was an understatement as the temperature soared into the mid 90’s when the last four games of the seven played during the two day event progressed.

As the 7th seed after pool play the team found themselves with another early start Sunday. After 3 decisive wins they met the number 1 and previously unbeaten Morris County, NJ Belles in the title match-up. Down 2-1 in the top of the 7th the Warriors scored and held to force an International Tie Breaker 8th inning.

A total team effort throughout the tournament, the girls plated the go ahead run in the top of the inning and again held in a nail biting, no-out, bases loaded bottom of the eighth to secure the 3-2 win!

This year’s finishes include a first place finish in the 2016 USSSA June Jamboree WSQ in Leesport, June 4-5, 2016, second place in the 2016 USSSA June Hustle WSQ in Collegeville, June 11-12, 2016 and champions in the 2016 VRGSL 16u Warriors Home Tournament in Drums, June 25-26, 2016. The girls are standouts on several area high school teams.
