Michael J. Skiro, 66, Wilkes-Barre, died peacefully July 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving family in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late George and Vera (Jones) Skiro and was educated in Crestwood High School.

He had worked for many years with Hanover Nursery, where he was a foreman.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a proud member and treasurer of “The Redneck Soshal Club.” His most precious moments were those he spent with his family. He cherished every second of family gatherings, holidays and just visiting with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Martino, and nephews, Frank Martino Jr. and Brian Skiro.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of many years, Debbie; daughters, Andrea and husband, Bernie, Hanover Township; Michelle Skiro, Wilkes-Barre; and Chrissy Skiro, Hanover Township; grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachery and Dylan; brothers, George and wife, Wendy Skiro, and Mark Skiro; sister, Tina and husband, Gerry Flynn; many nieces and nephews; adopted son, Christopher Zawierucha; and pets, Bentley and Max.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Moosic, or the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Assistance Fund, Kingston.
