St. Jude’s Seeks Donations For Annual Picnic

Basket donations for the St. Jude picnic can be dropped off on Wednesday, July 27 in the St. Jude parking lot between 6:30 p. m. and 7:30 p. m. Baskets may also be dropped off at the Parish Office during business hours. All you need to do is provide the items for the basket. Baskets and wrapping materials will be provided. Donations are also needed for the plant booth. House plants and perennials are suggested. Plants may be dropped off at the Grand Prize area between now and picnic weekend. Plant pick-up is also available. Please contact Therese Smith at 570-868-3458 for further information.

Bottles of wine or bottles of fine spirits are also needed. Donations may be dropped off at the Parish Office.

In anticipation of the annual picnic, parishioners are asked to mark their calendars for the clean up in the grove on Sunday, August 6 beginning at 1 p. m. Many hands are needed to help with light clean up in order to be ready for the big weekend. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, rakes, leaf blowers, brooms, rags and any cleaning supplies. This is a great project for scouts, families, or anyone willing to pitch in. All help will be greatly appreciated!

On picnic weekend, all Masses will be held at St. Mary’s in Dorrance. Saturday Masses on August 13 will be at 4 p. m., 5:30 p. m., and 7 p. m. Sunday Masses will be at 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m., noon, and 5 p. m.

Building Bucks gift cards will not be sold in the church on picnic weekend.

Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, August 4 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

The following items are needed at the Mountain Top Food Bank: boxed soup mix instead of Ramen noodles, noodles, cream soups, baked beans, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, tuna, mayonnaise, pudding, jello, sugar, hot chocolate, and coffee. Please drop off donations in the specially marked boxes in the annex of the church.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
