Post 781 Auxiliary Meeting

The first auxiliary meeting for American Legion Post 781, Mountaintop will be held on September 6, 2016, at the post home, Henry Drive, Mountaintop. Executive meeting is scheduled at 7 pm. Regular meeting 7:30 p. m. New members are always welcome. Come join us for an exciting new 2016-2017 auxiliary season.

CACE Classes To Begin

CACE classes start on September 6, but there is still plenty of time to register. Some of the classes are Photography, Yoga, Watercolors, Beekeeping, Home Brewing and many more. Printed brochures are available at the Kirby library and the Post Office lobby in Mountain Top; Post Office lobbies and public libraries in White Haven, Freeland and Conyngham. Also, brochure is online at,click on “links and info” and then, “CACE”. Form must be printed and mailed.

Women’s Club

The GFWC Mountain Top will be having a potluck on Sept. 12th at the Christ United Methodist Church, 175 S Main Road, at 6:30 pm. Women interested in learning more about the club and our activities are invited to attend. Please RSVP by September 6th to Jacquie 570-262-3793 or

Mt. Top Diabetes Support Group

The Mt. Top Diabetes Support Group will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 6 p. m. at the Chalet Restaurant. Topic for this meeting is “Dining Out”. Speaker is Ruth Wimsatt-Jones, MS, RD, LDN. You need to pre-register because space is limited. There are a couple spaces left. Call Triangle Pharmacy at 570-474-6590 for information or to reserve your spot for the dinner. Our last regular meeting is scheduled for October 6.

Volleyball League Registration

The Mountain Top Area Volleyball League announces registration and pre-season practice will be held at the Rice Elementary School gymnasium on Monday Sept. 12th and 19th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The season will start on Sept. 26, 2016 and conclude on May 22nd, 2017. Games will be held on Monday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Rice, approximately 30 nights of play. League competition is recreational and open to men and women ages 20 and up. The league is limited to 64 members. Dues for the 2016-2017 season are $25.00 per player, collected at registration. Mountain Top Welcome Club

Please attend and BRING A FRIEND!! Our first luncheon of the season!! Meet and Greet Thursday, Sept 15th at 12:00(noon) located at the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church, 9 Chestnut Street. Chinese food lunch will be provided by Komaqui for $8. Also babysitting will be available for $4 first child and $3 for additional children. Boy Scout Signups

Mountain Top Boy Scouts Recruitment dates: Pack 106 will be holding Scouting recruitment at Fairview Elementary School on Tues. Sept. 13th from 7 to 8 p. m. and also Thur. Sept. 15th from 7 to 8 p. m. Pack Cub Scouts can be boys in kindergarten to 5th grade, Troop Scouts are boys age 11 to 18 and also available Venturing for males and females ages 14 to 21. Knights Of Columbus

The Mountain Top Area Knights of Columbus will hold its monthly business meeting on September 13, 2016 at 7:30 p. m. at the St Jude school library. Rice PTA Meeting

The Rice Elementary PTA will host their first meeting of the school year on Tuesday September 13th at 6 p. m. in the school’s library. All parents, grandparents, and guardians are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn about the upcoming events at the school. Babysitting will be available.
