The Crestwood girls’ volleyball team defeated Pittston Area, 3-0, in a match played on October 24. Scores were 25-23, 25-16 and 25-21.

For the Lady Comets, Marissa Margalis had 10 kills. Ally Olszyk contributed with three kills, four aces, 16 service points and 25 assists.

Also among the Lady Comet leaders were Aly Muse with five kills while Maria Ellis finished with three kills, five aces and 13 service points.

On October 25, Crestwood recorded a 3-1 win over Wyoming Valley West. Scores were 25-22, 25-10, 22-25 and 25-10. The win clinched the No. 1 seed for Crestwood in the District 2 Class 3A tournament.

Olzsyk led the Lady Comets with 23 assists, 17 service points and five aces while Ellis finished with 11 service points, 10 aces and 10 digs.

Kristen Kania chipped in with 17 service points and eight digs and Sernia Brenhofer had 10 kills and two blocks in the win.


In the first round of the Wyoming Valley Conference District 2 Class 3A Boys Soccer tournament, No. 7 seeded Crestwood dominated No. 10 seed Honesdale en route to a 9-2 victory on October 24.

Kyle Gegaris led the Comets with six goals followed by Hubert Herrera who found the net twice.

Sean Murphy scored Crestwood’s first goal assisted by Gegaris.

Keeper Aidan Zabiegalski has three saves for the winners.

No. 7 Crestwood was scheduled to play at No. 3 Wallenpaupack in the District 2 Class 3A soccer semifinals on Monday, October 31.

+++++ Crestwood shut out Tunkhannock,

8-0, in the first round of the Wyoming Valley Conference District 2 Class 3A Girls Soccer playoffs on October 25.

The Lady Comets were led in scoring by Bella Termini who scored four of Crestwood’s goals while Vanessa Atie added two.

Also scoring for the Lady Comets were Chyanne Cook off an assist from Melissa Herrera.

No. 5 Crestwood will play No. 4 Wallenpaupack on Thursday at Wallenpaupack.
