The Crestwood girls soccer team had an awesome 2016 season winning its first District 2 Class 3A Championships over Abington Heights on November 3. But the Lady Comets were upended in the opening round of the PIAA State Tournament on November 8.
Crestwood suffered a heartbreaker 2-1 overtime loss to Northern York on a penalty kick at Lake-Lehman High School.
Northern got off to a strong start when Abby Monko headed the ball for a score off a Maddie McCarty in the first half.
Crestwood’s Melissa Herrera responded with an unassisted goal at 35:17 in the second half.
McCarty scored for the Polar Bears on a penalty pick in overtime.
Norhter out shot Crestwood 12 to. Courtney Dushanko had four saves for the Lady Comets.
Crestwood ended its season with a record of 14-3.
