Crestwood earned a berth in the PIAA Class 2A Field Hickey semifinals with an easy 5-1 win over West Chester East on November 12. The Lady Comets were slated to take on District 1 champion Merion Mercy on Tuesday, November 15 at 3 p. m. at Whitehall Coplay High School in the semifinals.
Against West Chester East last Saturday, Crestwood got off to a good start with goals from Katie Karpinski, assisted by Morghan Murphy, and Arden Morgans, assisted by Jordan Olenginski, in the first half.
The Lady Comets added to their lead early in the second half when Emma Janosczyk scored off an assist from Mackenzie Kile to go up 3-0.
West Chester East responded when Kelly Colon found the cage off an assist from Nicole Fredericks.
Crestwood increased the lead to 4-1 as Murphy scored off an assist from Karpenski. Olenginski scored the Lady Comets’ fifth and final goal to cruise to a quarterfinal victory.
Crestwood out shot their opponents, 12-9 and had the edge in corners, 9-7.
Marlee Dillon had eight saves for the winners.
