BISHOP VISITS ST. JUDE STUDENTS-The Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, D. D., J. C. L., Bishop of Scranton, celebrated Mass with the students of St. Jude School in the parish church along with Monsignor David L. Tressler, M. Div., M. S., M. Ed., Superintendent of Schools; Rev, Joseph Evanko, Pastor of St. Jude’s, Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Assistant Pastor; and Deacon Gene Kovatch, Pastoral Outreach. At the conclusion of the Mass, Sr. Ellen Fischer, Principal of St. Jude School, and officers of the National Junior Honor Society presented the bishop with gifts in honor of his visit. The first was a Lenten Calendar enumerating a student intention for each day with a photo of the student body in the shape of a cross in the church. The bishop was also presented with a check for $250 that would be donated in his honor to the Social Action Committee of the parish. Finally, he was given a hard hat with his name on it from Sordoni Construction, builders of the new church. The bishop immediately put the hat on much to the delight of the congregation and wore it for his closing remarks. Every student shook the hand of the bishop as they exited after Mass.
