Zoning permits and EMS business were the dominant discussions at the April 4 meeting of the Slocum Township Board of Supervisors.
Zoning Officer George Webby reported two building permits were issued for the month of April, to Bruce Fine and Marion Hoch. Three permits for fireworks issued to ZY Pyrotechnics on April 23 at the Slocum Fire Hall from 2 to 5pm, May 12 on Felisha’s Way from 8 to 10:30pm and May 13 at the Slocum Fire Hall from 8 to 10:30pm.
Under EMS, Ron Burd reported the annual spring road clean up along Nuangola Road went well.
Pete Webby updated the board on the effort to have lights installed on the cell tower that is currently located behind the fire hall on fire company grounds. The tower is located near a frequent Life Flight landing zone and, while it does not fall within the radius of the landing area that is mandated to have a light installed, the supervisors feel it is close enough that one is necessary. Webby stated that he was able to have a meeting with Congressman Lou Barletta, among others, and the congressman agreed to help the process along.
The installation process continues with the I Am Responding system purchased by the Slocum Fire Company earlier this year. The supervisors are anticipating a price on cabinetry to house the main unit. Peter Webby made a motion to approve the purchase of 4 TV monitors, brackets and a blue ray player for the system that will be installed at an amount not to exceed $2500. The motion passed unanimously.
The supervisors also voted to renew the township insurance policy with DGK Insurance.
The next meeting of the Slocum Township Board of Supervisors will be Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7pm at the Slocum Township Fire Hall.
