James W. Grey Jr., 70, a resident of Mountain Top, died April 12, 2017, as an emergency patient in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Oct. 21, 1946 in Pittsburgh, he was a son to the late James W. Sr. and Hazel (Bennett) Grey. Educated in Pittsburgh schools, he furthered his education by attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pittsburgh University and later a master’s in business administration from the former Wilkes College in economics.
At the time of his passing, Jim was the owner and operator of Grey and Associates, corner of Linden and North Main streets in North Wilkes-Barre, serving as financial planner and advisor. Previously he worked for Standard Brands.
“Jim” as he was known to family and friends, is remembered as being a family man whose grandchildren were the light of his life. He especially enjoyed the family vacations to the beach and serenading his family with his guitar skills.
Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 44 years, the former Linda C. Check, at home; loving daughters, Jamie Costello and her husband, Andrew, Thompson Station, Tenn.; and Jaclyn E. Grey and her fiance, Richard Smochek, Salisbury, Md., of whom are to be joined in Holy Matrimony this forthcoming June; grandchildren, Samantha, Riley, Noah Kate, Chloe and Jamison Graham; brothers, Daniel, Bennett and David Grey, all of Aliquippa; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Grey were conducted with a Memorial Funeral Mass in St. Andre Bessette Parish, Wilkes-Barre. Interment was private and at the convenience of the family.
Jim’s family would be honored if those considering a memorial donation in his memory, kindly choose a charity which is special to the donor.
