St. Jude’s Seeking Themed Basket Donations For International Fest

Basket donations are needed for the International Fest. The committee has some ideas for “International” themed baskets. All you do is provide the items for the basket. Baskets and wrapping materials will be provided. Basket donations may be dropped off at the Parish Office during regular business hours. Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, May 4 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Office at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

There is a wonderful opportunity for service for young adults on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a. m. until noon. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian organization that brings families, volunteers, and resources together to build simple, decent, and affordable housing, and to eliminate substandard housing in low-income areas. Houses are sold at no profit and owners provide hard work called sweat equity, a down payment, and interest-free payments. Volunteers will help with home building in Nanticoke or Wilkes-Barre area. A Vera Bradley/Designer Handbag Bingo will be held at St. Mary’s in Dorrance on Sunday, May 7 at 1 p. m. Doors open at noon. The cost is $20 which includes 20 games, all paper, plus specials. Kitchen will be open. Any questions, please call 570-868-5855.

The parish is in need of volunteers to make pierogi on Tuesday, May 9 at 5:30 p. m. in the school cafeteria. Parishioners who are available for some pierogi pinching are asked to please help. Questions may be directed to the Parish Office.

Parishioners are invited to come out and lend their voices to the beautiful celebration which is being planned for the dedication of the new church. This is a unique opportunity to participate in something very special. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays beginning April 26 from 7 p. m. until 8:30 p. m. in the church. Anyone in grade 8 through adult is welcome. A few rehearsals will also take place in the summer months. Please call Joe Dubinski at the Parish Office for any further information.

On May 13 and 14, the parish will once again support the Pre-Life Center in Wilkes-Barre with a carnation drive. Carnations will be available after all Masses at the church doors for any amount donation. Parishioners are invited to take a flower home or place it in a vase on the altar in honor of a loved one.

Vacation Bible School at St. Jude’s will run June 19 through June 23 from 9 a. m. until noon each day. Volunteer registration is now open. Forms are available at www.stjc.orgunder the Education tab. Parishioners are asked to please consider helping out. Many adults are needed in a variety of areas.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
