Classes will soon begin for the Diocesan Religious Award called “The Family of God”. This award is for third grade boys and girls. They will meet approximately six times and the medals will be awarded in June during Mass at St. Jude Church. Anyone who is interested in signing up their child to work on this medal, or if you have any questions, please call the Parish Office and leave your name and phone number.
On May 13 and 14, the parish will again support the Pro-Life Center in Wilkes-Barre with a carnation drive. Carnations will be available after all Masses at the church doors for any amount donation. Parishioners are invited to take a flower home or place it in a vase on the altar in honor of a loved one.
The annual Mother’s Day Adoption Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, May 14 at 10 a. m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Scranton. This liturgy recognizes all mothers, with a special emphasis on adoptive and foster mothers. Bishop Joseph C. Bambera will be the principal celebrant. All are welcome to attend. CTV: Catholic Television will broadcast the Mass live. An informational meeting for high school students, young adults, and parents who are interested in attending the NCYC will be held Monday, May 15 at 7 p. m. in the school cafeteria. Vacation Bible School at St. Jude’s will run June 19 through June 23 from 9 a. m. until noon each day. Volunteer registration is now open. Forms are available at www.stjc.orgunder the Education tab. Parishioners are asked to please consider helping out. Many adults are needed in a variety of areas.
Basket donations are needed for the International Fest. The committee has some ideas for “International” themed baskets. All you do is provide the items for the basket. Baskets and wrapping materials will be provided. Basket donations may be dropped off at the Parish Office during regular business hours. Parishioners are invited to come out and lend their voices to the beautiful celebration which is being planned for the dedication of the new church. This is a unique opportunity to participate in something very special. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays beginning April 26 from 7 p. m. until 8:30 p. m. in the church. Anyone in grade 8 through adult is welcome. A few rehearsals will also take place in the summer months. Please call Joe Dubinski at the Parish Office for any further information.
