Crestwood Graduates Encouraged To Strive To Achieve Their Dreams

A chapter in the lives of 208 Crestwood High School Seniors ended last Monday evening, June 12, as they filed two by two onto the floor of the Mohegan Sun arena to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the Crestwood Marching Band.

After senior members of the chorus sang the National Anthem and the Alma Mater, Senior Class Vice President, Ian Beach welcomed the graduates and their families and David Lackenmier and Ashley Lewis performed “Rivers and Roads” by The Head and the Heart to set the wistful, but eager and enthusiastic tone to the next 90 minutes.

That juxtaposition between looking back and looking ahead was evident when Class President Lackenmier reminisced with his classmates, and High School Principal Chris Gregaris followed with some words of wisdom for the future.

“Soon enough you’ll all walk across this stage, get your diploma, walk out those doors, and suddenly everything is different,” began Lackenmier. “Suddenly you’re a different person; by definition you are no longer Crestwood students but alumni.”
