Tick Awareness Program Set Aug. 2 At Marian Sutherland Kirby Library

Dare 2B Aware, a PA Lyme Prevention program will be held at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library on Wednesday, August 2 at 6:30 pm. The presenter will be Nicole Chinnici MS, Microbiologist Forensic Scientist ESU, Northeast Wildlife DNA Lab.

Tick-borne infections are preventable and awareness is the first step. In 2015, a PA Department of Environmental Protection Study reported Lyme and other tick-borne diseases in all 67 counties.

Pennsylvania leads the nation in new reported Lyme disease cases for six years running, with the number of annual cases increasing by 105% since 2013. Each year, more than 300,000 people are infected.
