Gerald J. “Jerry” Nemshick Sr., 78, of Mountain Top, died unexpectedly on Aug. 4, 2017.

Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Larksville, he was the son of the late Peter Nemshick and Genevieve (Schrago) Nemshick. He was a graduate of Larksville High School, class of 1957, and attained a vocational education degree in barbering and hair dressing in New Jersey. He was a member of St. Jude’s Church, Mountain Top. Gerald was a veteran serving with the United States Army.

He had been a self employed business owner for over 50 years. He was the owner and operator of Four Season Hair Fashions, Geraldo’s Fresh Baked Pizza, Whistle Stop Pizza, LTD, Rakaczewski’s Potato Pancakes and Lublin Realty LLC, of Mountain Top. Through his example of hard work and dedication, he instilled into his children an unparalleled work ethic. He also provided the same to many of the young people of Mountain Top working for the various vending businesses.

Gerald was active in planning his numerous high school reunions and most recently his upcoming 60th high school class reunion. He was an avid sports fan, passionate for watching Fox News, traveling to the various vending venues throughout Pennsylvania and enjoyed baking pizza. Known to his grandchildren as “Pizza Pop Pop,” he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sports activities. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers and sisters, infant brother, Joseph, Eleanor Nemshick, Raymond Nemshick and Peter “Doc” Nemshick Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Christine M. Rakaczewski; children, Janine Kerestes and her husband, John “Jack,” of Mountain Top, Gerald J. Nemshick Jr., of Mountain Top and his companion, Patricia Steckley, Nadine Killino and her husband, Dominic “Sal,” of Old Forge, Justine Yeager and her husband, Michael “Mike,” of Mountain Top, Joseph Nemshick and his wife, Sara, of Mountain Top, and Christine Nemshick-Lauer and her husband, James “Jim,” of Greer, S. C.; grandchildren, Abrianna Rose Killino, Taylor Ann Yeager, Nico Dominic Killino, Michael Joseph Yeager, Emersen Rose Lauer, James Joseph Lauer, Jacob Randle Nemshick; stepgrandson, Jack Hoovler; sister, Jean Banas and her husband, Gene, of Mahwah, N. J.; brother, Daniel Nemshick and his wife, Carol, of Flanders, N. J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
