A Farmers Market sponsored by the Mountain Top Rotary is held every Sunday from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. at the Crestwood High School, Route 309, until October 29, 2017. The market features fresh local vegetables, fruits, herbs, honey, eggs, hot sauces, baked goods, confection treats, a Caribbean food truck and gourmet dog treats for your fur babies. Locally grown, locally made, Locally grown, locally made and locally crafted.
The Nuangola Grove Farmer’s Market is open Saturdays until September 16 from 9:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Fresh produce, food and hand made items are featured. The market is at 5177 Nuangola Road at the site of the Historic Grove Theater.
Betsy Scanlan, a local Girl Scout in the Mountain Top area, is currently working on a Gold Award project that gives kids in Geisinger Children’s Hospital home-made coloring books. The pages are ready and I am planning on printing them soon. I need the materials to color it with. Donations of crayons or colored pencils would be greatly appreciated. There will be boxes at Kirby Library, St. Paul’s, and Design Works.
A fundraiser for the Herbst family is planned from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Ice House Pub on Nuangola Road. The pub will have a table set up that night to collect donations for the family. The family of five, and a cousin, were injured on August 25 when they were struck by a car while taking a walk.
The Crestwood Basketball Booster Club will hold its first meeting for the season on August 31st at 7pm at Cavanaugh’s. If your child is in the Crestwood Basketball program, please join us to discuss the activities for the upcoming season.

The Trooper Ree and Eddie Engler Annual Memorial Benefit Motorcycle Ride & Concert is scheduled Saturday, September 9, 2017 at American Legion Post 781, Mountaintop. Ride registration begins at 10 a. m. Rice departs at 11:30 a. m. Concert & Celebration will be from 1 to 8 p. m. $20 donation includes all food, beverages and live entertainment. St. Paul’s is sponsoring a Chicken BBQ Saturday September 9th from 12 -5 p. m. Help is inside in the kitchen and outside at the grill. Any time you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Donations of Industrial size of corn and green beans, BBQ sauce, and lots of cakes. There will be a sign up sheet in the Narthex. Menu consists of 1/2 chicken, baked potato, corn or green beans, cole slaw and dinner roll. Eat-in or Take out. The cost for Adults is $9.50; Children ages 3-10 $5.00; Children under 3 are free.
