Religious Education K-6: Saint Mary’s Religious education classes meet on Sundays, immediately following Mass from 10:50-11 a. m. Children go directly to their classrooms. The yearly calendar and other important information was handed out last week. Please keep the calendar in an easily accessible location (inside of kitchen cabinet) so you can refer to it throughout the year. Questions: Mrs. Heller 570-379-2647.
Confirmation Students: Practice is Sunday, October 1, beginning with Mass at 11a.m. Classes for seventh and eighth grade will begin after Columbus Day. Seventh Grade Parent Meeting: There is a meeting for Seventh Grade Confirmation Parents on Wednesday, September 27, at 6:30 PM, in the SJS cafeteria.
Food Collection: We are continuing to collect non-perishable food items for our local families in need. Can goods (veggies, soup, fruit), peanut butter & jelly, mac and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, crackers, granola, cereal, etc.
Funeral Luncheon Volunteers Needed: Our parish has a tradition of offering home cooked meals to families after funerals. More volunteers are needed. Specifically, people are needed to provide a covered dish, set up, serve, and clean up. You can volunteer for one of these jobs or all of them. Typically there is a two day notice. Please call the parish office if you can help with this ministry.
The Knights of Columbus is a group of Catholic males age 18-up who raise money in order to perform charitable acts in our community. The group is involved in almost every Church activity and event. Please consider joining our group. Call or text John Babba for more info 516-241-5297.
Seminarian Dinner: The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, September 30, from 5-8 p. m. in the social hall. Cost is $10 per person. All proceeds (100%) will be divided between our three seminarians. Take out will be available. Calling all bakers, desserts welcome!
Rosary: The Altar & Rosary invites everyone to join them in Reciting the Rosary on Saturday, October 7, at 6:30 p. m., immediately following Mass. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
Youth Group will meet on Sunday, October 15, from 6-8 p. m.. Dinner will be provided. Volunteers are needed for the Seminarian Dinner on September 30. Please call or text Molly for more information 868-5855 or 262-4628.
Turkey Bingo will be held on Sunday, November 12, at 1 PM. Doors open at noon. Tickets and Lottery Calendars are available from any member.
Trunk or Treat: The Community Outreach Group is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat on Monday, October 30, from 6-8 p. m., in the parking lot. Parishioners are encouraged to decorate their vehicle and pass out treats to our young ghosts and goblins.
Spaghetti Supper for Bill Lukashewski is set Sunday, October 22, 1-5 p. m. in Saint Mary’s Social Hall-Faithful parishioner Bill Lukashewski is battling Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. A Spaghetti Supper -Basket Raffle is planned to help defray the mounting medical expenses. Donation is $8. Take out available. Donations are being accepted (desserts, baskets, raffle items, etc). Saint Theresa’s Guild and Altar & Rosary are collecting monetary donations to be given to Bill Lukashewski as their support of the benefit on October 22. Members can bring their donations to the next meeting, or the may be placed in the offertory basket marked accordingly.
The weekend Mass schedule at St. Mary’s Church is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.
The new Mass schedule at St. Jude’s is Saturday at 4 p. m. and Sunday at 8:30 and 11 a. m.
NEW office hours are Monday –Thursday from 8:30 a. m. -3 p. m. or by appointment.
