Bess Croop, 88, Mountain Top, died Oct. 17, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Hunlock Creek on Sept. 25, 1929, she was a daughter of the late George and Flora Seybert Croop.
Bess was a graduate of Hanover Area High School, Class of 1947; Brooklyn State School of Nursing, Class of 1951; and of the Allentown Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia, Class of 1971. She was employed with the Visiting Nursing Association in Bayonne, N. J., the Visiting Nursing Association in Wilkes-Barre, and at CRNA at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hazleton, from where she retired in 1991 after 20 years.
Bess was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her brother, George; and her sisters, Jayne and Georgia.
Bess is survived by her lifelong companion of 45 years, Romayne Lochner; her sister, Carol; and her many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was conducted in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top. Rev. Michelle Kaufman, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mountain Top, officiated.
McCune Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
