Crestwood got off to a good start in last Friday night’s football game against Wyoming Valley West when the Spartans lost a fumble early in the contest but, undeterred, visiting Valley West came roaring back to take a 39-7 win.
The Comets turned the Spartans’ fumble into a quick seven point lead on a 28-yard run by Kevin Klusewitz after 1:18 minutes of play but that would be it for the home team.

Half way through the second, Valley West revved up a powerful ground game control of the game that resulted in two touchdowns scored by tailback Sean Mikovitch and quarterback Rob Dwyer.
Spartan Zach Davies took it from there as he gathered in a Crestwood fumble and returned it for 46-yards and a TD. On the following kick-off, the Spartans recovered a ball that resulted in a 14-yard scoring run by Dwyer with only 50 seconds left in the half. At halftime, Valley West was up 32-7.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Spartans’ tailback Sean Mikovitch added the final seven points for Valley West with a 19-yard scoring run as the Spartans walked off the field with a 39-7 victory.
Four Crestwood turnovers helped the Valley West cause.
