PUMPKINS PLUS PARAGRAPHS MAKE LEARNING BIOGRAPHIES FUN-The Saint Jude School Third Grade Class recently completed a project entitled Pumpkin Paragraphs. Each student was to read a biography on a person of their choice, learn about their chosen person and then write a summary of the book. The final component of the unit of study was to create a pumpkin persona of their chosen historical figure. Students chose a range of famous icons from Ben Franklin (Maximus Bleiler) to Clara Barton (Gabrielle Carlin), from Sacajawea (Eva Martin) to Thomas Jefferson (Jacob Hunsinger) and used a wide variety of materials to make their characters come to life. What a festive way to learn about such influential people! Front from left: Steven Rowlands and Emily Conway. Row two: Jacob Hunsinger, Giada Alberti and Avari DeAngelo. Back: Maximus Bleiler, Emily Carone, Eva Martin and Gabrielle Carlin.
