Peter Paul Kocur

Peter Paul Kocur, 90, Pinnacle Court, Mountain Top, died Oct. 31, 2017, at Smith Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, Mountain Top.

He was born in Hanover Twp. on May 30, 1927, the son of the late Andrew and Anna Pasternak Kocur.

He was a member of the graduating class of 1945 of Hanover High School.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Peter was proud to serve his country from 1945 to 1951 in the U. S. Navy. He was the recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal.

He later went on to further his education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Drexel University, Philadelphia.

He was employed as a traveling auditor and statistician by Conrail in Philadelphia for more than 40 years until his retirement.

Peter was a former member of St. Jude’s Church, Mountain Top. He was also a member of American Legion Post 781, Mountain Top, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283, Kingston, and Catholic War Veterans Post 274, Ashley.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret Quigley Kocur, in 2008, and sisters, Theresa Sokolowski and Anna Mary Kocur.

Surviving are his brother, Andrew Kocur and his wife, Joanne, Mechanicsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A blessing service was held with the Rev. Vincent Dang officiating at George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, Ashley.

Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
