Crestwood Boys Soccer Team In Opening Round Of PIAA Tournament
THRILL OF VICTORY-Sean Murphy tied Crestwood’s game against Dallas in the District 2 Class 3A title game. The Comets went on to win in overtime to secure a spot in the PIAA tounrmanet which began November 7.

Crestwood’s come from behind win over Dallas gave the Comets a 3-2 victory in overtime and the District 2 Class 3A championship. The win earned Crestwood a berth in the PIAA tournament. Crestwood was scheduled to play in the first round on November 7 against Hershey at Lake Lehman.

Dallas shut down Crestwood’s offense in the first half while a goal by Beaudyn Lewis put the Mountaineers in front 1-0.

Crestwood’s Max Gariano tied the game in the second half, when from 30 yards out, Gariano’s shot skipped off the crossbar to tie the game. Dallas responded at the 64-minute mark with their second goal scored by Nate Maransky to edge the Comets, 2-1.

A shot by Crestwood’s Sean Murphy tied the game in dramatic fashion off a pass from Michael Ceklosky to knot the score at 2-2 with 1:28 remaining in regulation and send the game into overtime.

Ceklosky made the game-winning shot as Crestwood captured the District 2 Class 3A championship in a 3-2 overtime victory to give the Comets their second District 2 Class 3A title in three years.

Keeper Anthony Kovalchik had seven saves in the win.
