The Boy Scouts of America and the Wascavage Family, to honor the memory of their son Matthew Wascavage, are collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves and mittens for those in need. All sizes for children and adult are needed. Please drop off new and gently used winter items in the collection boxes located in the Mountaintop Eagle office at 85. S. Main Road, the NEPA Boy Scouts of America office on Montage Mountain Road, and Lewith & Freeman office Mountaintop. Donations will be accepted now up to December 29. Thank you for your help in keeping someone warm this winter. Items will be taken to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen clothes room and shelter locations throughout Northeastern and Central PA. The Mountain Top Welcome Club’s November meeting is on Thursday, November 16th beginning at 12 p. m. The meeting will be held at the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church, 9 Chestnut Street. Chaz Balogh will discuss cyber security and internet safety. This month’s lunch will be provided by Gigi’s Deli for $8 per person. Babysitting is available for free. The American Legion Auxiliary Post 781 is sponsoring a Holiday Wet Your Palate painting party on Saturday, November 18, 4 p. m. at the American Legion post home located at 1550 Henry Drive, Mountaintop. There will be a choice of two paintings, a penguin or a snowman, courtesy of The Art Party Place. Cost is $35, which includes snacks. This is a BYOB event. Raffle baskets will be available. It is once again time for the Mountain Top Feed A Friend project. Your donations help us provide Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. Food collection boxes and money canisters are located in various locations throughout the Mt Top area. Mountain Top Family Church and St. Jude’s Church are also doing food drives. The Boy Scouts will be collecting food around the Mountain Top area on Saturday November 18th. Volunteers are needed on Saturday November 18th, 2017 from 9am to 12pm to sort food at St. Paul’s Church and Tuesday November 21st from 9am to 1pm to assist with distribution. Emmanuel United Church of Christ will hold its family style Pork Dinner on Saturday, November 18, from 3 to 7 p. m. The meal includes roast pork, homemade sauerkraut, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade applesauce, bread, beverage, and dessert. Take Outs are available. Ticket prices are $11 for adults, $4 for children age 6 to 11; children 5 and under for free; or $11 for a well-portioned take-out. Emmanuel UCC is located at the end of Alberdeen Road in Dorrance Township.
Crestwood Senior Lock-In will be hosting a designer purse and accessory bingo on Sunday, Nov. 19th from 12pm-4pm in the high school cafeteria. The bingo will benefit the seniors of the high school. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Ticket price includes 20 regular games. There will also be available two special games, best of show, 50/50 and mystery bag raffle. Seating is limited.
