Aigeldinger Recognized For Service By School Board

At its Nov. 16 meeting, Crestwoodschool board recognized threeoutgoing board members –AlbertMiller, Thomas Harding and EricAigeldinger –and gave specialrecognition to Aigeldinger, whoserved for 31 years.

Newly elected board membersBarry Boone, James Costello andAnna Hollock-Bibla will occupythose seats. Incumbents RandySwank and Maureen McGovern werealso reelected.

President William Jones passedAigeldinger his gavel and invitedhim to chair his final board meeting, saying Aigeldinger “knows everynook and cranny” of the district andwill be “sorely missed.”

Superintendent Joseph Gorhamgave Aigeldinger an “honorableschool board service award” fromthe Pennsylvania School BoardsAssociation. Solicitor Jack Deanannounced that Luzerne CountyPresident Judge Richard Hughes wasin the audience to honor Aigeldinger.

In other business, the boardvoted to enter into negotiations tobuy a residence on three acres at310A South Main Road. After themeeting, Jones said the district has noparticular plans for the property, but“ they don’t make more land,” and thedistrict’s property at the secondarycampus is somewhat cramped.

“If we have an opportunity toextend our property, we’ll takeit,” he said, noting the propertywould provide another access to thesecondary campus from South Main, and it abuts the football field area.
