Food Collection: St. Mary’s is continuing continuing to collect non-perishable food items for our local families in need. Can goods (veggies, soup, fruit), peanut butter & jelly, Mac and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, crackers, granola, cereal, etc.
Religious Education Classes will not be held next Sunday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving. This includes our Confirmation students.
No classes Sunday or Monday.
Classes resume December 3. Enjoy time with family.
Confirmation Students: Sunday classes are 9:30-10:45 a. m. and Monday classes are 6:30-7:40 p. m.. Please attend on your scheduled day. It is permissible to attend on the alternate day if you are sick or have other unexpected conflicts.
Seventh Grade Class Schedule: December 3/4 and 10/11, 2017.
Eighth Grade Class Schedule: December 10/11 & 17/18, 2017.
Christmas Eve Family Mass: All parish children are invited to sign up to participate in the program presented before the Christmas Eve Family Mass (4 p. m). Please send in the participation form enclosed in the November Family Envelope or call the parish office. Mrs. Stec will be in touch with families regarding practice times and other information.
Christmas Caroling Event: The Order of Alhambra, an organization of Catholic men and women, dedicated to providing activities and support for special needs children and adults and assisting persons with intellectual disabilities, is planning a holiday Christmas caroling event. The local chapter, known as Alhamar Caravan No. 4, will sing Christmas carols at St. Joseph’s Alhambra house in Scranton and the White Haven Center. Volunteers are welcome to participate in the caroling event Dec. 4, at 7 p. m., at White Haven Center and Dec. 11 at St. Joseph’s Center. We would meet at 6:10 each time at St. Nicholas’s church parking lot in Wilkes-Barre & then carpool to destinations. If interested contact Kathy Kennedyat 570-825-3272.
Sanctuary Candle: Names will begin to be taken for the 2018 Sanctuary Candle Intentions on December 4. The candle is available weekly for a $5 donation.
St. Theresa’s Guild’s Mission is for the benefit of our parish children. The Guild will meet on Tuesday, November 28 at 6 p. m. in the social hall to set up for the Children’s Christmas Party. All ladies of the parish are invited to become a member. Regular monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p. m. in the dining room. Parish Advent Wreath: Our parish is continuing with the tradition of a Home Made Wreath of donated greens. Please bring your cuttings (not large branches) to the Church by Friday, December 1. Greens may be placed on the side porch.
Wafer Supper: Saint Theresa’s Guild invites all parishioners to their annual covered dish Wafer Supper on Sunday, December 10, at 6 p. m., in the social hall. RSVP is required to provide an accurate count for table settings and favors. There is a sign up sheet in front of the Angel Room in the back of church. Reservation deadline is December 3.
The Angel Tree filled with names of local families, including parish children will be up next weekend. Please choose a tag, then sign the clipboard indicating the child’s ID and if you chose a toy or clothing item. There will also be tags for grocery gift cards for parish families.
Christmas Rolls: Altar & Rosary Society is again taking orders for Christmas Rolls. There are six varieties available. Cost is $6. Please place your pre-paid orders in the collection by December 10. Rolls will be available for pick up December 22, after noon in the rectory meeting room. Questions: Susan 570-868-6983.
