The Boy Scouts of America and the Wascavage Family, to honor the memory of their son Matthew Wascavage, are collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves and mittens for those in need. All sizes for children and adult are needed. Please drop off new and gently used winter items in the collection boxes located in the Mountaintop Eagle office at 85. S. Main Road, the NEPA Boy Scouts of America office on Montage Mountain Road, and Lewith & Freeman office Mountaintop. Donations will be accepted now up to December 29. Thank you for your help in keeping someone warm this winter. Items will be taken to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen clothes room and shelter locations throughout Northeastern and Central PA. Slocum United Methodist Church will hold a Craft Sale & Chinese Auction on December 9, 2017 from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. Come enjoy yourself and travel back in time to see out church as it was Christmas 1900. There will be a Chinese Auction with 75 plus prizes, and homemade food and crafts. Wimpies, pork BBQ, pierogies, haluski, hot dogs, homemade soups and baked goods will be available.
Crestwood High School will present Guys and Dolls Friday December 8th and Saturday December 9th at 7 p. m. in the auditorium. Tickets for the show are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for Students and Senior Citizens. Tickets are available at the door. Doors will open at 6:15 p. m.
On Sunday, Dec. 10th 2017 Santa Claus is coming to the Slocum Fire Hall from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Bring your cameras and take pictures. Children ages 0-12 yrs are welcome.
Mt Top Post 781 Sons of the American Legion announce the December 2017 S. A. L meeting will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, December 12th at the Post Home. The Sons have also announced their 2018 event schedule. Regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm: January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, October 9, November 13 and December 11. There will also be a district meeting held on Sunday, April 8. The S. A. L. will be holding three events throughout the year. On Sunday, May 6 there will be the annual chicken dinner, Sunday, July 29 will be the S. A. L Car Show and on Sunday, October 7 they will hold their waffle dinner. “We Three” Trombone trio will present a concert of festive Christmas and holiday music at 1:30 pm on December 17th. This well-known and unique trombone trio will be performing the beloved songs of the season as part of Christmas at St. Martin’s. There will be a meet and greet reception hosted by the St. Martin’s Auxiliary after the concert. Admission to the concert and the reception is free.
