Annual Lessons & Carols Concert December 17At St. Jude’s Church

St. Jude’s Catholic Church services are Saturday: 4 p. m. and Sunday: 8:30 a. m. and 11 a. m.

Parish office hours are Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a. m.-3 p. m.; Friday and Saturday: closed and Sunday: 9:30 a. m.-12:30 p. m. The Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 a. m., 1:50 p. m. and 7 p. m.

Parishioners are needed to light the Advent wreath at all weekend Masses during Advent December 16 and 17, and 23 and 24. To sign up for any Masses on those weekends, please contact Carrie at cgrandzol@stjc.org

St. Jude Parish Christmas Pageant will be held Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4:30 p. m. to coincide with Lessons and Carols Concert. All children age 4 through high school are invited to take part in this new St. Jude tradition. Practices will be held each Saturday in December. Bambinelli Sunday, a tradition started by St. John Paul II, will be celebrated at St. Jude parish Sunday, December 17th at 8:30 a. m. Mass.

The Religious Education Office is collecting socks for Brandon’s Forever Home. Socks will decorate the tree in the school hallway until Dec. 19. New socks for adults and children are needed. They can be dropped off to the basket in the Narthex.

Senior Christmas Luncheon-High school students are hosting a luncheon for the Seniors of the Parish on Thursday, December 28 from 12 noon to 2 p. m. in the cafeteria of St. Jude School. It’s an afternoon to meet up with friends, share a meal, song some Christmas carols and have some fun. Please call the Parish Office at 570-474-6315 by Thursday, December 21 to reserve your spot.

St. Mary’s, Dorrance, is offering an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday, December 21 from 6 to 7 p. m., or until confessions are heard.

‘Keepers of God’s House’-Please consider volunteering a few hours a month to maintain our church beauty by becoming a “Keeper of God’s House”. This is a new ministry for both men and women. Contact Maureen Rushkowski at 570-262-1834 for more information.

The annual Cookie Walk to benefit the Youth Ministry Program is scheduled Sat., Dec. 16 from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. Cost is $10 per container until sold out. Bakers are needed. Please drop a few dozen for the cookie walk on Friday, December 15 from 4 to 7 p. m. in St. Jude School Day Room. Please drive behind the school and use the Day Room Doors. Call the parish if you plan to bake.

St. Jude’s 11th Annual Lessons & Carols Concert will be held Sunday, December 17th at 4 p. m. in the church. The concert tells the story of our salvation history in Christ and features the church Music Ministry and Christmas Pageant, guest instrumentalists and a light reception to follow in the school cafeteria.

A Christmas gathering for college students and young adults ages 18-30ish will be held Thursday, December 21 at 7 p. m. at Luigi’s Restaurant in Mountaintop. The evening begins with dinner followed by Deacon Ryan Glenn who will share a Christmas message from Pope Francis for young adults from 7:30 to 8:15 p.,., and a Q & A from 8:15 to 8:30. Advent Is Here: We begin the season of Advent to prepare for Christmas. One of the most important things we can do is reconcile with God. Every Monday night of Advent we will expose the Blessed Sacrament and hear confessions beginning at 7 p. m. at St. Jude’s. We ask that you do not wait for the last Monday of Advent and consider spacing yourselves out over the three Mondays so we all can have the best experience.

Christmas falls on a Monday this year so it means we will gather to pray often in a short period of time. We all know that most people like to celebrate Christmas Mass on Christmas Eve so we have more Masses on December 24, to accommodate. So, the schedule is as follows:
