Camden Boris scored a game-high 21 points in the Crestwood boys 61-45 win over GAR in a basketball game played January 30.

The Comets led in the final three quarters of the game to seal the victory over their struggling opponents.

Mike Palmiero scored 16 points for the winners followed by Evan Knapp with 10, Sean Murphy, eight, and Kevin Klusewitz with six. A trio of Comets scored three-point goals: Boris (4), Murphy (2), and Palmiero (2).

Palmiero led the Comets with 20 points in Crestwood’s crushing 54-36 defeat of Berwick on February 1.

The Comets led the Bulldogs by 15 points at the end of the half and continued their scoring onslaught until the final buzzer.

Boris tossed in eight points for the winners, followed by Knapp, Klusewitz and Ryan Petrosky with seven points apiece. Murphy recorded five in the victory.

Crestwood recorded another win on February 3, defeating Pittston Area, 52-43.

Palmiero led the Comets with 15 points.

In a balanced scoring attack, Klusewitz and Boris each scored nine points, Knapp followed with eight, Ryan Petrosky, six, and Murphy, five.

+++++ The Crestwood girls basketball

team suffered a tough 50-59 loss to Holy Redeemer on January 29. The win tied Redeemer (11-0) with Nanticoke Area in WVC Division 2. The loss dropped the Lady Comets to 7-4 in WVC Division 1.

A strong first quarter put the Lady Royals up by nine and held onto that lead at the end of the half. More offense by Crestwood in the second half was not enough to make up for the deficit.

In a balanced team scoring effort, Sara Hopkins and Julia Makowski led the Lady Comets in scoring with 15 and 14 points respectively. Sarah Richards added eight points, Kristen Andrews, five, Bella Termini, four, and Helena Jardine, three.

Makowski scored 22 points in Crestwood’s 47-42 win over Pittston Area on February 2. Andrea Shipton also scored in double digits with 10 points.

Riley Magin added six, Hopkins chipped in with five, and Jardine tossed in four.
