St. Jude’s Catholic Church services are Saturday: 4 p. m. and Sunday: 8:30 a. m. and 11 a. m. Parish office hours are Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a. m.-3 p. m.; Friday and Saturday: closed and Sunday: 9:30 a. m.-12:30 p. m.
First Penance Service is scheduled Saturday, February 10th at 9:30 a. m. at St. Jude’s.
Students in grade 7 through 12 are invited to attend Mass and receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 14. High school students will be picked up in the high school cafeteria and middle school students in the middle school cafeteria at 1 p. m. Students will return to school in time for dismissal at approximately 2:15 p. m.
In order to attend Mass you must have a note from your parent. The note must be handed in at St. Jude’s by Monday, February 12. 7 and 8 grade students can hand them in at the religious education classes. High School students can drop them off in the collection basket, at the Parish Office or mail them. If a note is not received by Monday, February 12, you cannot attend Mass with the group. A Vacation Bible School Meeting to discuss this year’s VBS format is scheduled February 11 at 12 noon in St. Jude School Library.
An XLT Adoration will be held on Friday, February 16th at 7 p. m. in St. Jude Church. This is an adoration with praise and worship music with Francis Zelinka of Full Armor Band. Pam Urbanski will speak about temptations. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions. For the Parish of St. Jude; teens, young adults and families.
Following XLT, students in grades 8th through 12th are invited to bowling at Chacko’s Family Bowling in Wilkes-Barre, Cost is $10 and includes bowling, shoe rental and food. Please arrange for your own transportation.
Youth Ministry Events: A Valentine’s Party for foster children of Brandon’s Forever Home and their families will be hosted by St. Jude Youth Ministry on Saturday, February 10 from 1 to 3 p. m. Students in grades 7th through 12th and parents are welcome to help out with games, crafts, face painting and more.
Teen Mass will be held Sunday, February 11 at 6 p. m. followed by Teen Nite for students in 8th through 12th grade. Teen Nite will feature opening ceremonies for the St. Jude Teen Olympics. Pick up your information packets. Pick your teams and make sure your friends come. Events include curling, snow tubing, down hill skiing, snowboarding, and more Olympic trivia. Get points for attending social, spiritual and service events. Prizes will be awarded and include: ski passes, water park passes, snow tubing passes, and more.
Wedding Anniversary Mass-The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D. D., J. C. L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office of Parish Life invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th anniversary in 2018 to a diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on June 10, 2018. The event includes a 2:30 p. m. Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be called into the Parish Office, 570-474-6315, no later than March 12, 2018.
The following food items are needed for the Mt. Top Food Bank: boxed soup mix, noodles, cream soups, baked beans, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, tuna, mayo, pudding, Jello, sugar, hot chocolate and coffee.
