St. Jude’s Sets Fish Fry

St. Jude’s Catholic Church services are Saturday: 4 p. m. and Sunday: 8:30 a. m. and 11 a. m. Parish office hours are Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a. m.-3 p. m.; Friday and Saturday: closed and Sunday: 9:30 a. m.-12:30 p. m.

On Ash Wedneday, February 14 the Liturgy schedule is as follows: 7 a. m., 12:10 p. m., Scripture Service andAshes;1:15p. m. St. Jude School Mass; 4 p. m., Scripture Service and Ashes; and 7 p. m.

Lenten Regulations-The following fast and abstinence regulations are observed:

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence.

Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence.

All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and on all Fridays during lent.

All Catholics over 18 to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Those bound by this rule may take only one full meal and two smaller meals unless dispensed or excused.

An XLT Adoration will be held on Friday, February 16th at 7 p. m. in St. Jude Church. This is an adoration with praise and worship music with Francis Zelinka of Full Armor Band. Pam Urbanski will speak about temptations. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions. For the Parish of St. Jude; teens, young adults and families.

Following XLT, students in grades 8th through 12th are invited to bowling at Chacko’s Family Bowling in Wilkes-Barre, Cost is $10 and includes bowling, shoe rental and food. Please arrange for your own transportation.

Students in grades 7th through 12th are invited to spend a day Snow Tubing at Montage Mountain on Monday, February 19. The group will leave St. Jude’s at 11 a. m. and return at approximately 4 p. m. February 23 from 4 to 8 p. m. Tickets can be purchased after Masses on 2/17 and 2/18 or at the Parish Office. Walk-ins will be taken on a limited basis. Take out or sit down options available. Menu features fish (baked or fried), coleslaw, fries and a drink. Tickets: $10 for adult dinner, $5 for child dinner (mac and cheese).

Wedding Anniversary Mass-The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D. D., J. C. L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office of Parish Life invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th anniversary in 2018 to a diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on June 10, 2018. The event includes a 2:30 p. m. Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be called into the Parish Office, 570-474-6315, no later than March 12, 2018.

The following items are needed for the Mt. Top Food Bank: boxed soup mix, noodles, cream soups, baked beans, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, tuna, mayo, pudding, Jello, sugar, hot chocolate and coffee.
