Fire Department answered 40 calls in January, including several false alarms and assisting at several motor-vehicle accidents, reported Supervisor Michael Marshall.
Wright Township Police answered 272 calls in January, stated Supervisor Colleen Macko, including four counts of harassment, three thefts, two counts of child abuse allegations, and one count of the following: fraud, criminal mischief, narcotics, disorderly conduct, and fighting. Police made two driving under the influence of alcohol arrests, issued nine traffic citations, three non-traffic citations, and two warnings.
Macko went on that police investigated 10 accidents, assisted other law-enforcement agencies on 25 incidents and were assisted by other agencies on 21 incidents. Training for the month included Patrolman Aaron Fromm receiving MCSAP recertification and all officers receiving trauma training.
The parks and recreation committee held its election of officers for 2018, Howton announced, with Laurel Prohaska as chair, Tom Mayka as vice chair, and Luke Modrovsky as secretary. The board of supervisors appointed Justin Webber to the parks and rec board, with a term expiring in December of 2018.
A donation summary was given for the dog park and, to date, funds raised amount to $10,038. A little over half of those funds came from donations and the other half from grant money. A designer purse bingo, to raise more money for the dog park, will be held on March 11, at 1 p. m., at the Crestwood High School cafeteria. Tickets will cost $20.
The zoning department issued one permit for a commercial accessory structure last month and two notices of violation for parking large commercial vehicles in a residential area, stated Supervisor Donald Zampetti. One of those vehicles has been removed and the other must be removed within the 30-day window of the notice of violation, or the property owner will be fined. The board appointed Zoning Officer Cody Yermal as flood plain administrator for 2018, which is a new position that the state created, Zampetti explained
