In an effort to ensure all area girls who want to play recreational softball have a chance to do so, Valley Regional Girls Softball League in Drums has decided to open the door for new registrations from girls between the ages of 5 and 18 as of Jan. 1.
“We never turn away players,” said VRGSL media officer John McGran. “It just goes with our league philosophy of, ‘It’s all about the girls.’”
McGran does urge interested girls and parents to submit a registration form ASAP. VRGSL has already held its skills showcase and player draft, but team practices have yet to begin.
As registrations come in, new girls will be placed on the next team in order of the draft for the 10U and 13U divisions.
Players looking to register for the 18U division have until May to return their forms; the senior division does not begin play until the end of the school year.
Registration is $50, but there is a $10 discount for each additional girl from the same family. If a family cannot pay the full registration fee, the league will accept partial payments or even consider hardship cases which play for free.
