Wyoming Seminary Lists Cultural Events

The Wyoming Seminary Dance Company will present its annual performance on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 8 p. m. in the Buckingham Performing Arts Center, North Sprague Ave., Kingston. The program will feature a selection of dances from famous Tchaikovsky ballets such as “Swan Lake,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and “The Nutcracker,” as well as dances from several Bob Fosse works. Members of Sem’s second grade class also will appear in “A Day for the Cat in the Hat.” The company, under the direction of Bernardine Vojtko, will create an evening filled with movement, energy and color. ]

The Wyoming Seminary Music Department will present its annual Spring Concert on Friday, May 3 at 8 p. m. in the Great Hall of Wyoming Seminary, 228 Wyoming Ave. The Chorale will perform music by Gorczycki, Gawthrop and Stephen Foster, while the Madrigal Singers will sing works by William Hawley and Johann Pachelbel. The orchestra will present music from the soundtrack of “Schindler’s List” by John Williams and The Carmen Suite No. 1 and 2 by Bizet. The Wyoming Seminary string ensemble and hand bell choir also will perform.

The Wyoming Seminary Civic Orchestra will present its annual spring concert on Sun., May 5 at 8 p. m. in the Great Hall of Wyoming Seminary, 228 Wyoming Ave.

The Wyoming Seminary Music Department will present a special Student Recital on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p. m. in the Great Hall of Wyoming Seminary, 228 Wyoming Avenue. The recital will feature performances of four compositions written by students in Sem’s AP Music Theory class, as well as performances by student vocalists and instrumentalists. Wyoming Seminary student musicians will present the annual Farewell/Senior Recital on Friday, May 24 at 4:00 p. m. in the Great Hall of Wyoming Seminary, 228 Wyoming Avenue, just north of Kingston Corners. The students will perform their favorite pieces for the last time as Sem students.
